Kingstowne Pet Services

Kingstowne Pet Services offers in-home, private lessons with Isabelle Bertrand, the owner of KPS, a Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT) certified dog trainer. Training sessions are specifically tailored to meet the needs of you and your pet. Obedience training is offered for a variety of skill levels:

Puppy	8 Weeks to 6 Months old
Basic	6 Months and Up
Intermediate	For Dogs Proficient in Basic Skills
Advanced	For Dogs Proficient in Intermediate Skills

As well as offering obedience training, we can also help owners who have dogs with behavioral issues including: in-house accidents, aggression, separation anxiety, fear/shyness, howling, barking, etc.

Training serves to create a relationship between you and your pet based on trust and understanding.

Training Methods

KPS specializes in positive reinforcement training. As opposed to older training methods, which focus on punishing unwanted behaviors, positive reinforcement rewards desired behaviors, thereby increasing their frequency. This is accomplished through the use of reinforcers, such as, treats, toys, or praise. Positive training is more humane, more fun, and is highly effective.

Some of our methods include clicker training, lure-reward training, shaping, counter-conditioning, desensitization and other behavioral modification techniques.

Training your dog is an ongoing process which continues long after a fixed-number of training sessions. Therefore, we believe owner involvement in the training process is crucial. We give you the tools to continue training, solve future problems, and attain new goals by helping you have a better understanding of your dog.

Training Availability

Training sessions can be scheduled for weekday evenings and throughout the weekend.

Training Rates

In-Home Private Lesson	$85 per lesson	One hour lesson with you and your dog. Variable training levels - from puppy to advanced obedience.
Package of Five (5) In-Home Private Lessons	$375 ($75 per lesson - 12% savings)

American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Testing

KPS offers evaluation of your dog for AKC Canine Good Citizen certification. We also offer training classes specifically designed to prepare your dog for the Canine Good Citizen test.

There are two different packages available for different needs. The Comprehensive Package is ideal for those who are thinking about getting a new puppy or dog, especially first-time dog owners. The Basic Package is better suited for those who are either planning on bringing home a new puppy or dog soon or have already done so.

Dog Assessment - General	We will help you decide the right puppy or dog for you taking into account breed, age, temperament, energy level, size, and your lifestyle.
Dog Assessment - Specific	We will help you assess a specific puppy's or dog's personality and background.
Pet Products Consultation	We will recommend the best pet products based on your dog's needs. This includes a visit to your local pet supply shop - we will review everything you need item-by-item informing you of the pro's and con's of each product. This service can save you considerable time and money by allowing you to get the right products for your dog from the start.
Directory of Pet Services	We will provide you with a comprehensive directory of local pet related services and stores including: veterinarians, groomers, pet supply stores, kennels, dog parks, and dog friendly establishments.
Training	Four (4) in-home, private, one-hour lessons. Lessons are tailored to fit your specific needs, whether it's basic obedience, or introducing a second dog into your home.
